Made in Texas. These retainers are machined in the Great State of Texas out of 6061-T6 Aluminum. The Bear Claws™ are sold as a set including one Cap and one Base. Both are Type 2 Anodized with Gold, Red, Blue and Black options on the Caps. Bases are Black. The bases will fit snugly to our 38mm and 54mm filament wound motor mount tubes. Attach using JB Weld or similar. Caps are compatible with legacy motor retainers using an ACME style thread.
Beautifully machined and finished.
However, it does NOT FIT onto a LOC 38mm motor tube.
Ones needs a motor tube MUCH thinner than a LOC tube.
Therefore, it was a waste of money to buy.
Big issue with a lot of rocket parts is the lack of spec or dimensions. The Tube OD this fits onto needs to be specified.
I've used the aeropack retainer before and each motor size comes in different IDs to fit different OD motor tubes.
Response from BuyRocketMotors.com: The Kozmo Bear Claw retainers are not specified or designed to specifically fit any tube other than our Kozmo line of fiberglass or carbon fiber airframes. Many have had success with these nonetheless on LOC and other similar airframes, but do expect some modest to moderate fitting.
I have now purchased a couple of these retainers, and I can say without a doubt they are my favorite retainer on the market! The manufacturing quality is second to none, and the fit is great. For those wondering, these retainers (both 38mm and 54mm) are sized perfectly for using the Aeropack adapters to get smaller diameter motors into your rockets. The only time I'll get retainers other than these in the future is in applications where these will not fit or work.
These are by far the best retainers on the market today. Fit and finish is perfect. I will definitely be buying more of these in the future. Probably won't buy any other brands after seeing these!!!! I would give it more stars if I could.
