    AT D24-7T RSM 18/20 reload

Posted by walt rauscher on 26th Dec 2020

    This launched a 188gram rocket (ASP's RX250LN) nicely at 14m/s off a 4 foot rod.

There were two problems during assembly:
    1) The propellant liner would not slide into the RMS 18/20 case. Luckily, I have read about this issue so pealed a layer of paper from the outside of the liner made it slide into the case. Motor performer properly so all internal seals functioned.

    2) After pushing the case onto the ejection charge cap. the BP leaked out of the cap when turning the motor aft down. The ejection charge cap was very loose, not sealing in the BP charge. Never read about this problem anywhere.
My solution was to carefully and slowly pour to BP charge into the aft motor charge well, tapping the case to settle the BP until all the BP is in the charge well. Then place a piece of masking tape over the open end of the charge well, folding the masking tape down and around the aft end. Then install the ejection cap over the masking tape.
The cap was now on tightly and no BP leaking out. During flight ejection performer as expected.
